Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: What's Next for the MCU
The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy may have ended, but the story of the Guardians is set to continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has two credits scenes: one in the middle of the credits and the other at the very end.
The second credits scene focuses on the departed founder of the Guardians, Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord.
The end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hints at an entirely new Guardians roster that includes Adam Warlock, Kraglin, Groot, Cosmo, and a character referred to as Phyla.
Phyla-Vell is part of a family of space adventurers related to the first Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell.
Phyla-Vell's comic book origin has nothing to do with the High Evolutionary or the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The second credits scene ends with a title card claiming that "The legendary Star-Lord will return."
Marvel has not officially announced any plans for Star-Lord or Chris Pratt's character beyond Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
There are no upcoming MCU projects that feel like a natural fit for Star-Lord until 2025's Avengers: Kang Dynasty.
It is possible that Marvel has plans for a Star-Lord Disney Plus series or solo film, but there has been no official announcement yet.
