Ingredients:
- 2 to 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Optional add-ins:
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
- Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
- Mix in the baking soda and salt. Allow the mixture to sit for about 2 minutes; it will start to bubble up.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gently fold in the flour until the batter is just mixed. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- If you want to add any optional ingredients, such as nuts, chocolate chips, or cinnamon, fold them into the batter now.
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice and enjoy your homemade banana bread!
