Classic recipe for chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients

Ingredients

–1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened – 1 cup granulated sugar – 1 cup packed brown sugar – 2 large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 3 cups all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 2 cups chocolate chip – Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined

Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using) until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may appear slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as they cool

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely

Repeat the process with the remaining dough, baking one batch at a time, until all the cookies are baked

Enjoy your homemade chocolate chip cookies with a glass of cold milk or share them with friends and family

You can customize this recipe by adding other mix-ins like chopped nuts, dried fruits, or even shredded coconut. Also, feel free to adjust the baking time based on your desired level of softness or crispiness for the cookies
