First Lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, with her spokesperson reporting that she is currently experiencing only mild symptoms. President Joe Biden underwent a COVID-19 test after his wife’s positive result, and fortunately, his results came back negative. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the President will continue regular testing and be closely monitored for any symptoms.
In light of her diagnosis, Jill Biden will remain at their residence in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the time being. Elizabeth Alexander, the communications director, mentioned that the First Lady had initially planned to begin the new school year at Northern Virginia Community College, where she teaches English and writing. However, due to her condition, arrangements are being made with school officials to secure substitute teachers for her classes.
Before her positive test, the First Lady had accompanied her husband on a trip to Florida on Saturday, where they assessed the damage caused by Hurricane Idalia. Subsequently, President Biden spent part of the Labor Day weekend at their Delaware beach house before attending a union event in Philadelphia on Monday and returning to the White House.
It is worth noting that both the Bidens had previously contracted COVID-19 last summer.
